Romsey War Horse Memorial Unveiled

A memorial to the thousands of horses shipped into battle from Hampshire during World War One has been unveiled today by the Princess Royal in Romsey town’s Memorial Park.

About 110,000 of the 1.3 million horses and mules involved in the conflict passed through a giant military depot just outside Romsey.  £50,000 was raised by residents for the life-sized statue of a horse and officer created by local sculptor Amy Goodman.

Thank you to everyone who purchased our Romsey War Horse Ale; it was a fantastic project to be involved with.
